Makruh acts are those that diminish the perfection of Salah. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid such acts. However, performing them does not invalidate the validity of Salah.
Some of the Makruh acts in Salah are listed below:
- Looking upward or sideways
- Performing Salah in haste
- Holding back urination, defecation, or flatulence while there is still time left for the Salah
- Praying while leaning without a valid reason
- Praying in a state of excessive drowsiness
- During Ruku, not keeping the head and back level—raising or lowering the head disproportionately
- Not placing the nose on the ground during Sujud
- Not making Du’a after the final Tashahhud and Salawat
- Performing Salah with the head and shoulders uncovered
- Praying with rolled-up garments
- Praying near filth (najasa)
- Reciting aloud in Salah that should be recited silently, and vice versa
- Standing on one foot or raising one leg during Salah

- Places of sin, such as areas of drinking or immoral activity
